...of being wrong? You cant deny it. You know you prefer to be right than wrong. Whats so special about being right? Whats so bad about being wrong? You learn more by being wrong... does being corrected or being incorrect make you feel worse or even inferior that the guy who is 'right'? Does it hurt your pride?

I see this gross pehonmena rear its ugly head every day. In small forms as to knowing the right answer in class, to having the most logical answer to a deep philosophical question. People love being right, and fear being wrong.

While Ive learned and even created many theories on why I believe this to be, Id like to hear your guy's voice.

Why are people afraid of being wrong?

If we all did the right things, we would never learn. For that case, we would never live. Being wrong and right are both obviously necessary, but why deny one and embrace the other?

I'm not sure, but I know it largely affects my life.  It's at a deeper extent, and it's the reason why I ask so many questions, and it's also the main reason that I dislike English and humanities, as I can not verify the "correctness" of my work.

I don't understand why... it's not a matter of pride, but it is fear.  Maybe fear that I'll get in trouble?  Fear that I'll get yelled at?  Fear that I'll hurt or make someone else upset?

I don't need to be right in a debate, I don't need to be right or the smartest in class... but I don't like being wrong... and that's a natural part of life, but it causes me many problems.

Because if I'm right in the first place then I don't have to worry about being wrong.
Or I don't have to redo some shit.

That does make some sense, for instance, that would be perfectly applicable to schoolwork. But that doesnt explain being corrected. When youre corrected, the right answer is given to you. All that you need to do is make a tiny mental adjustment that reads 'Oh, I was wrong. Well, I guess I know now' Would laziness constitute the answer for being afraid of being wrong in this scenario as well?

See the post under you to see what I said about 're-doing things.'

Why would you need to worry about being wrong? I mean this question in both being wrong on a small scale, and a large scale.
