What country was Estonia part of for most of the past millenium?

If Estonia were a car, what Volkswagen model would it be? How would you say Javier in Estonian? The Onion's Atlas of the Planet Earth states that Estonia is a country "United in circular dancing," and that it "has been under foreign control for most of its history, due to the fact that its main form of defense is holding hands and singing." Do you agree with this assessment?

That's mockery.
I was just curious, because in the U.S. we square dance. Also, Javier in Estonian? Because if I ever move there, I have to assimilate.
