Being British and doing a degree in languages at university, I can say that my experience of languages  thus far in the educational system wasn't amazing but it wasn't at all bad either. The problem isn't with our curriculum per se, it's more attitudes in this country towards the learning of foreign languages.

I can imagine at least a few countries on that list being worse than we are with regards to this.

america's pretty nice, it's just the culture that sucks; it seems that the american culture is eating lots of food, obsessing over trivial things rather than over education and other things that matter, and making fun of what we don't understand...oh, and being greedy

yeah, aside from the culture and the fact that we're in huuge debt and at war, it's pretty cool here
